My first time teaching the Qur'an #6

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Assalamualaikum w.b.t. Have you guys ever have super random encounters? And from those encounters, while you’re casually catching up with each other’s stories…you suddenly join in something so randomly. That is how my friendship is like with these two people. Especially Fatina, which I think this is not our first random approach. I think this happens since we rarely see each other and although we are taking the same course, we have different classes and paths. One day, I was just casually waiting for my food at the cafeteria until I sat down with Izzati who was with Fatina as well at that time. We were discussing things and right after I asked where were they going (because they seemed all dressed up and ready for something) , Izzati told Fatina if I could join them. Both Fatina and Izzati was waiting for a brother to pick them up. That brother is an alumni of the Angkatan Belia Islam of IIUM and Fatina is an a...

My first time directly helping refugees #5

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Assalamualaikum w.b.t Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to join I CAN CLEAN organized by the I CAN CHAPTER of IIUM Gombak. Hasnaini and some other familiar faces joined too. Around 9-10 a.m., we hopped on the bus heading towards our destination. We were volunteers for a charity work that day at Darul Eslah Academy (School for Rohingya Refugees). I was assigned to the living room area with another girl named Hazirah. It was our first time knowing each other but we worked well together despite it being our first meeting. We swept the floors, cleaned the fans, wiped the boards, mopped the floors and rearranged some stuffs. Yep, great opportunity for me to look like a ninja that day! We had a lunch break for Zuhr prayer as well. Unfortunately, the library was still not done. We continued helping the volunteers assigned to the library. From sorting books to all the donations, th...

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. My dad was the one who took this hehe Assalamualaikum w.b.t. Towards the end of May last year, I received a direct message on my Instagram from a TV show crew. It was around 5 pm that day and I was home alone. The message was (sort of like this), “Hi Miss Fatimah. I am ….. from …. Would like to invite you to appear in our Sihat & Steady segment for the Feel Good Show tomorrow morning for Yoga in Ramadan. Below are the details….” I was…completely in disbelief. I called my mom and sister to get confirmation and assist for it since the studio was in Shah Alam. I have a sister from Kuala Lumpur and of course she was the most reliable to accompany me. Alhamdulillah, everything felt good (literally) and I took the 8pm bus from Johor Bahru. I arrived around 1-2 am and before sleep, my sister helped me a lot on points that I could talk about on the show. People who are close to me would know that I have always been a...
