My sharing session for Usrah Budi 4 #11

 Assalamualaikum w.b.t

It has been a while. I am back here writing for my last Usrah Budi class, Usrah Budi 4. I am so grateful that I was blessed with a naqibah who is very proactive and inspired in every of our session. Sr. Sharifah always take part in discussions and sharings wholeheartedly and I am in awe of how she maintains that till the end. It truly shows how she takes the amanah as a naqibah seriously and is respectful as well as appreciative of others' contribution in class.

I honestly believe that this could be my first time actually enjoying online usrah sessions. The initiative was indeed splendid. Every week 5 sisters will share on any sirah and another 5 on current matters. At first, I was reluctant to share anything because I have not been reading new material for a while. A day before the last class, Sr. Sharifah personally messaged me and ask if I was okay to give any sharing and even insisted that it was okay if it was just a 1 minute sharing.

I ended up giving quite a lengthy sharing haha because it was 2 different stories.

In the first story, I talked about the extension of Julaybib r.a., a sahabah of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. who was a martyr. Sr. Sharifah did mention of this sahabah in previous classes noting on how we was ugly and poor in the eyes of others. One day, Rasulullah asked him why he has yet to marry? Rasulullah then asked a pious girl from a family to marry Julaybib. That story however, was so continued in the previous class.

The first time I heard of Julaybib was during my qur'anic reading class with Ustaz Abdullah Bukhari. I remember he was teaching us about two particular verses from Surah al-Hujurat, verse 12 and 13.

"O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Accepting of Repentance and Merciful."

And Allah continue in the next verse, verse 13:

"O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous1 of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Aware."

I remember my Ustaz just particularly touched on the back-biting part. He told us that Allah wants us to know that they severity of us talking bad about others is to the extent that we skin them and eat their flesh raw. Just visualize it and you will realize how terrible it is. That is how terrible it is when we backbite others for no reason. Of course, there are certain situations where we are allowed to talk about the bad things of a person but only if it's because they're a cruel leader in a community.

I think people naturally backbite on others especially when they sort of ridicule this people as well. As mentioned in  verse 11 of Surah al Hujurat:

"O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name [i.e., mention] of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers."

So to simplify right, what the others did to Julaybib was very wrong. And actually, from his story, we can learn that nothing else matters more than your faith to Allah and His Messenger.

Because, in the story, although Julaybib finally got married, the Muslims were called to go for war.

After the war ended and the Muslims won, Rasulullah was the only person who wondered where Julaybib was because  they were about to head home. They finally found him lying unconscious with 7 dead enemies around him.

Rasulullah asked to dig a grave then and there for his beloved sahabah. He put Julaybib on his lap and he also carried Julaybib's body into the grave.

That was how much respect and love Rasulullah had for Julaybib.
And if you think about it.
Nothing else matters when your faith is sincere, and remember that it is heard and known by Allah and His Messenger.

I think that's all for now. I did say there were 2 stories, but maybe next time? Or maybe not >:)

Gotta go, salam <3
